Annul can counter key noncreature spells like Sylvan Library, Mox Diamond, and Seal of Cleansing (which could otherwise destroy Stasis). Call of the Herd is a sorcery, so Annul cannot counter it, and neither can it stop its flashback. Black Vise is risky since Terrageddon's Armageddon plan can leave you without lands to cast spells, leaving Vise doing little, while Weathered Wayfarer can help them rebuild lands when you have more than they do. Stasis combined with Root Maze is strong here, since Root Maze makes their lands, such as Gemstone Mine, and artifacts, such as Mox Diamond, enter tapped, which compounds the mana denial plan. Keep in mind that it also affects your own lands and artifacts. Keep Chain of Vapor to bounce creatures like Terravore or an Elephant token from Call of the Herd. It can't target lands, so it cannot answer an animated Treetop Village.
