This matchup hinges on resolving Phyrexian Dreadnought before your opponent can answer it — Standstill is their primary tempo tool, and breaking it on your terms (by deploying a Dreadnought) is often how you win. Tsabo's Web turns off their Dust Bowl, Mishra's Factory, and Faerie Conclave, dramatically reducing their ability to grind you out or apply pressure without breaking Standstill themselves. Annul is excellent here, hitting Standstill, Humility, Powder Keg, and Phyrexian Furnace (which threatens your graveyard), while also countering their sideboard Meddling Mage before it resolves post-board. Misdirection and Thwart are cut as inefficient in a counter-heavy blue mirror where mana efficiency matters; Peek and Flash of Insight are lower-impact cantrips trimmed to make room. Play carefully around Swords to Plowshares post-combat if you're forcing through a Dreadnought, and be aware that Wrath of God does nothing to your 12/12 — their primary answer is exile effects.
