Reanimator's entire engine depends on Deceit and Requiting Hex enabling Ashling, Rekindled, Superior Spider-Man, and Overlord of the Balemurk from the graveyard. Rest in Peace completely shuts down this strategy and is the most important card in this matchup — both copies must come in. Aven Interrupter counters key reanimation spells or threats on the stack, buying crucial tempo. Bovine Intervention can't keep up with their graveyard recursion, Cathar Commando has no artifacts to destroy, and Avatar's Wrath is too slow and doesn't help with already-reanimated threats.
