Golgari Midrange packs efficient removal like Bitter Triumph, Assassin's Trophy, and Maelstrom Pulse, making Surrak, Elusive Hunter valuable since it can't be countered and rewards them for trying to remove your other threats by drawing you cards. Heritage Reclamation cantrips reliably and can hit their graveyard to blunt Mosswood Dreadknight's Adventure recursion or destroy key enchantments like Unholy Annex/Ritual Chamber. Meltstrider's Resolve is risky since a two-for-one via their removal after the fight is a real cost, and Mole Man's 1/1 Moloid tokens die to nearly every card in their removal suite, so both are cut for sturdier, more punishing threats.
