Azorius Tempo runs Springleaf Drum, an artifact Heritage Reclamation can destroy to blunt their tempo and ramp engines. Defend the Rider protects our creatures from targeted removal like Erode, though indestructible won't save threats from exiling or bouncing effects like Avatar's Wrath. Spell Pierce is weaker here since Azorius Tempo curves out efficiently and can often play around it, so it comes out alongside the slow Terrian, World Tyrant and a Quakestrider Ceratops that doesn't do enough to keep pace with their evasive, flash-heavy creatures like Aang, Swift Savior and Wan Shi Tong, Librarian.
