Mono-Red Aggro is a fast, low-curve deck (Hired Claw, Emberheart Challenger, Razorkin Needlehead) that wants to race before we stabilize, so we need to prioritize cheap interaction and lifegain-adjacent value over our slower plays. Sear and Slagstorm both kill their key threats or sweep their 2-toughness creatures like Hired Claw and Emberheart Challenger, while Sunspine Lynx deals damage on entry equal to each player's nonbasic land count, and since their manabase runs nonbasic lands like Rockface Village and Soulstone Sanctuary while ours runs several nonbasic lands, the trigger will likely hit us harder than them, so bring it in mainly for the body, not the trigger. Soul-Guide Lantern's card-draw mode helps us dig for answers in a race where card quality matters more than raw power, and the slow, expensive Eddymurk Crab is too clunky against a deck this fast unless our graveyard is already full of spells, so a couple copies come out for more immediately impactful interaction.
