Death and Taxes plays a few legendary creatures like Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd and Loran of the Third Path, making Karakas a useful utility land that can bounce those key threats to reset their tempo. Dismember is efficient removal for their small-to-midsize creatures like Skyclave Apparition, or Phelia before it generates too much value from repeated attack triggers. Their deck also runs Wasteland, so keeping our mana base resilient matters; we avoid touching our core engine pieces since our top-end colorless threats like Ugin, Eye of the Storms and The One Ring outclass their grindy plan once we stabilize.
