The EPIC Storm wants to assemble fast mana via Lion's Eye Diamond, Lotus Petal, Chrome Mox, and Mox Opal into a turn-2 to turn-4 Tendrils of Agony kill, often protected by Veil of Summer. Duress proactively strips a key piece like Gamble, Beseech the Mirror, or Burning Wish before they can chain into their combo. Force of Negation is at its best here since it can stop their Tendrils of Agony or Echo of Eons for free on their turn, which is often the only window we get. Surgical Extraction can exile a copy of Lion's Eye Diamond or Lotus Petal from graveyard, hand, and library to meaningfully slow their mana development, and Flow State, Boomerang Basics, and Daze are all too slow or low-impact against a deck trying to combo us out before our tempo plan matters.
