Null Rod cuts off Lotus Petal's sacrifice ability, denying them crucial fast mana for Show and Tell and Aluren turns. Thorn of Amethyst taxes their noncreature spells (Aluren, Show and Tell, Stock Up, Brainstorm, Ponder) by a full mana, slowing their combo significantly. Chalice of the Void set for zero or one is extremely strong against their Lotus Petal and one-mana cantrips. Sire of Seven Deaths and some It That Heralds the End come out since this matchup is a race against their combo, not a creature fight, so cheaper disruption matters more than raw stats.
