Null Rod is devastating against The EPIC Storm, shutting off Lion's Eye Diamond, Chrome Mox, and Mox Opal, three of their core mana-acceleration artifacts, which can single-handedly strand their hand. Thorn of Amethyst taxes every noncreature spell they cast, compounding with Chalice of the Void at low counts to make it very difficult for them to chain Dark Ritual into their combo pieces. We cut our own Lotus Petal since we don't want our artifacts clogging up Chalice counts we're trying to set against their LED and Mox Opal, and trim Eldrazi Linebreaker since this matchup is won or lost on disruption before they go off, not combat damage.
