This Colorless Prison/Ramp deck wants to lock us out with Trinisphere and bury us under The One Ring or Karn, the Great Creator value; Pithing Needle can shut down a repeatable activated ability like Karn's -2, The One Ring's draw engine, or Grim Monolith's untap. Haywire Mite answers Trinisphere or The One Ring directly, and Disruptor Flute can tax a named threat like Urza's Saga's chapter ability source or Ugin, Eye of the Storms by naming the card before it resolves (note Disruptor Flute only raises casting cost, so it's best named before they cast a copy). We trim Pinnacle Emissary and a cantrip since this matchup rewards disruption over our own artifact synergy, which is comparatively slow against their lock pieces.
