Death and Taxes is a prison deck that uses Thalia, Guardian of Thraben to tax all your non-creature spells by one colorless mana, and Aether Vial to deploy threats outside of your permission range, with Deafening Silence from the sideboard preventing you from casting more than one noncreature spell per turn — which is lethal to your combo. Leyline of Sanctity in your opening hand shuts off Cabal Therapy, which would otherwise name your key combo pieces and exile them from your hand. Thoughtseize strips Thalia, Deafening Silence, or Disruptor Flute before they hit the battlefield, buying you a clean window to go off. Disruptive Stormbrood is a flexible answer that can fight through their creature-based disruption. Pact of Negation is cut since their disruption is permanents and creatures rather than spells, and Narcomoeba is trimmed as the weakest combo piece — your goal is to find a turn-one hand that goes off before Thalia or Aether Vial can deploy enough disruption to lock the game.
