Esper Control's only mainboard creature is Solitude, so Stern Scolding has few targets. It can hit Solitude (toughness 2, even when it is evoked), but with only four of them we trim both copies. Consign to Memory is a reasonable fit: it counters colorless spells like Isochron Scepter and triggered abilities like Solitude's exile trigger. It cannot counter Teferi's -3 (a loyalty ability, not a triggered ability), Narset's static ability, or their colored spells such as Sink into Stupor. Spell Snare has only narrow live targets (Consult the Star Charts, Isochron Scepter), since Narset and Teferi are mana value 3 and Silence is mana value 1, so we trim two copies for answers that line up better with their plan.
