Damping Sphere makes each additional spell they cast that turn cost {1} more, which can blunt their explosive cascade-into-Living End turns where they chain multiple spells. Pithing Needle cannot stop Living End itself, since casting it off suspend is a triggered ability rather than an activated ability, but it can still shut down Street Wraith's cycling or a key activated ability from their creatures, so it remains a reasonable if narrower inclusion. We trim our slowest, most vulnerable-to-sweeper cards since Living End can wipe our board via its own sacrifice clause if we overextend into their turn.
