This Gruul Eldrazi combo deck relies on Blade of the Bloodchief equipped to Basking Broodscale for its infinite loop, and most of its enabling pieces are cheap artifacts or small permanents. Brotherhood's End destroys any mana-value-3-or-less artifact, directly answering Blade of the Bloodchief, Vexing Bauble, Haywire Mite, and Soul-Guide Lantern, which can strip away their combo enabler before they go off. Untimely Malfunction can destroy Blade of the Bloodchief outright or redirect a removal spell targeting our own key piece. We cut Artist's Talent and Hex Magic since they don't interact with the opponent's plan and we need proactive answers plus speed to combo first or disrupt their engine.
