Nihil Spellbomb is our best tool against Spy Combo, exiling their graveyard to shut off Dread Return's flashback reanimation of Balustrade Spy and other creatures, which is central to their plan of self-milling into a graveyard payoff. Thorn of the Black Rose's deathtouch trades favorably with their bigger green creatures like Generous Ent while also generating card advantage as the monarch. Spell Pierce is weak since this is a low-curve creature deck not particularly reliant on expensive spells we can tax, and Plunder the Trollshaws is too slow against a deck trying to assemble a critical mass of creatures and mana dorks quickly. Counterspell and our removal suite remain key to stopping their key enablers like Balustrade Spy.
