Golgari Gardens carries a dense removal suite (Cast Down, Defile, Snuff Out, Unmake) plus Crypt Rats as a scalable sweeper, so the extra Mesmeric Fiends let you strip their best removal spell or a copy of Troll of Khazad-dum before it can trade with your key threats. Masked Vandal adds another exile effect for their artifact-based value pieces like Ichor Wellspring, Nihil Spellbomb, or Tithing Blade, denying the sacrifice synergies that fuel Eviscerator's Insight and Fanatical Offering. Lotus Petal and Tinder Wall are cut since Tinder Wall is a fragile, low-toughness mana source that dies easily to Crypt Rats or Defile, while Lotus Petal offers only one-shot acceleration without advancing your board, and this grindy matchup rewards disruption over marginal acceleration. The rest of your mainboard engine, including Balustrade Spy and Dread Return, stays intact since it remains your primary path to closing out the game.
