Jeskai Ephemerate grinds value with Mulldrifter, Archaeomancer, and Murmuring Mystic tokens while using Skred to pick off small creatures, so Mesmeric Fiend's exiled card simply returns once Skred or a blocker kills the 1/1 body, making it a poor rate here. Lotleth Giant is also weak since at seven mana it is easily stopped by Counterspell, and its undergrowth trigger is a minor payoff against a deck that out-grinds clunky top-end plays. Healer of the Glade comes in to give a cheap early body and some life gain across three copies against the grindy attrition plan, buying time for Lead the Stampede and Winding Way to assemble the combo. Vitu-Ghazi Inspector adds a reach blocker against Mulldrifter, and if you can collect evidence from your own graveyard late in the game it puts a +1/+1 counter on a creature and gains additional life.
