Mono Red Madness races you with Fiery Temper cast for its cheap {R} madness cost and Kessig Flamebreather/Guttersnipe triggers, so life total matters enormously; Weather the Storm's lifegain (copied per spell already cast that turn) helps offset the burn. Hydroblast can counter or destroy Lightning Bolt, Fiery Temper, or a resolved Guttersnipe/Kessig Flamebreather. Note that Relic of Progenitus and other graveyard hate do nothing here since madness cards are discarded to exile, not the graveyard, so don't rely on that plan. Trim Campfire and Unfathomable Truths for more immediate interaction, and prioritize Skred and Lightning Bolt on their damage-trigger creatures.
