Against a control deck built around Standstill, Counterspell, and sweepers like Wrath of God, Meddling Mage is excellent, naming Standstill or Wrath of God to proactively strip one of their key cards while providing a clock. Exalted Angel is a strong threat whose damage trigger gains you life as it connects, which helps race through their control shell, but it is vulnerable to Swords to Plowshares (you would gain 4 life from the exile) and dies to Wrath of God with no way to recast it from the graveyard, so deploy it with care. Frantic Search and Intuition become lower priority since this matchup is more about proactive threats and disruption than raw combo assembly speed; Wrath of God only destroys creatures, so it threatens your enchantments only once Opalescence has made them creatures. Keep Decree of Silence and Parallax Wave as the anti-control backbone, with Decree of Silence able to counter their Counterspell and Mana Leak, and Parallax Wave able to exile their animated Mishra's Factory or Faerie Conclave.
