Back to Basics keeps Serra's Sanctum and Brushland from untapping, cutting into the mana this deck relies on to cast its enchantments and its white spells. Essence Flare is a cheap Aura that can give Phyrexian Dreadnought +2/+0, at the cost of a -0/-1 counter on each of your upkeeps. The extra Chain of Vapor adds another way to bounce Solitary Confinement, Parallax Wave, or Opalescence at instant speed and reset their lock pieces, as long as Sterling Grove isn't giving that enchantment shroud. Daze and Thwart lose value as the game goes long and this opponent floods mana quickly, while Flash of Insight and Misdirection are too slow or situational against a deck with few good spell targets to redirect. Keep the Stifle and Vision Charm package in to deny Phyrexian Dreadnought's sacrifice trigger and still race before Solitary Confinement locks the board.
