This opposing Goblins list is a creature swarm, not the Survival/Madness deck described, so Engineered Plague naming Goblin shrinks almost their entire board by -1/-1, picking off 1-toughness Goblins like Mogg Fanatic, Goblin Lackey, and the Siege-Gang tokens while weakening everything else. Smother and Chainer's Edict are too narrow against a wide board of small creatures, so they come out for the sweeping Engineered Plague effect. Extra Duress strips removal or a key Goblin payload before it lands, and Pernicious Deed remains your best mainboard sweeper against their go-wide plan. Haunting Echoes is irrelevant against a deck with no real graveyard plan here.
