Dimir Midrange's Floodpits Drowner and Dream Beavers both rely on enter-the-battlefield triggers, so Torpor Orb turns off the stun-counter lockdown from Floodpits Drowner and neutralizes value from creatures like Dream Beavers. Negate is well-positioned against their noncreature spells like Requiting Hex, Bitter Triumph, and Kaito, Bane of Nightmares, but it can't hit creature spells such as Enduring Curiosity. Boomerang Basics is weak here since it just returns their threats to be recast with value triggers again, and Braided Net is too passive against a deck with real card advantage. Keep Perilous Snare in to deal with Kaito, Bane of Nightmares, and keep Pinnacle Starcage in to sweep up cheap threats like Spyglass Siren.
