Null Rod is strong against Izzet Affinity. It shuts off Mox Opal, Seat of the Synod (an Artifact Land whose mana ability is an activated ability), Chrome Mox, Lotus Petal, their Baubles, Tormod's Crypt, and Skateboard's equip. That chokes their mana and card flow. Urza's Saga is an enchantment land, not an artifact, so its abilities are unaffected. Emry is not an artifact, so its activated ability still works. Kappa Cannoneer has no activated abilities, so Null Rod does nothing to it. Be aware that Null Rod also stops your own Mishra's Baubles and Nihil Spellbomb, so Null Rod and Nihil Spellbomb conflict. Crack Nihil Spellbomb to exile their graveyard and deny Emry targets before Null Rod lands, because you can't activate it afterward. Consign to Memory counters colorless spells such as Chalice of the Void, Mox Opal, Chrome Mox, Lotus Petal, the Baubles, Pithing Needle and Skateboard. It can also counter triggered abilities, such as Kappa Cannoneer's counter-and-unblockable trigger or Council of Reeds' copy trigger. It cannot counter the colored spells Pinnacle Emissary, Kappa Cannoneer, Emry or Council of Reeds. Bilbo, Ponder and Snuff Out come out because this matchup is about disrupting their engine rather than racing. Bilbo does little against an artifact swarm, Ponder is slow, and Snuff Out is a poor fit against Kappa Cannoneer's ward {4}.
