Grixis Reanimator's early clock is Psychic Frog, a 1/2 that only grows once they start discarding cards to it, so Galvanic Blast or Whipflare can kill it cleanly before it gets out of hand. Whipflare also sweeps up Emperor of Bones and any other small nonartifact creature they commit early without touching your own artifact creatures. Their real payoffs — Archon of Cruelty and Atraxa-style reanimation via Unearth or Persist — are colored spells that dodge Consign to Memory, so favor proactive removal and pressure over counterspells here. Race them before Archon of Cruelty comes down, since its attack trigger alone can bury you in card and life disadvantage.
